Bond Information

Bail is a sum of money that a person accused of a crime must pay to the court in order to be released from jail while they await trial. The purpose of bail is to ensure that the person will return to court for their trial.

A bail bond is a contract between a bail bond company and the defendant. The bail bond company agrees to pay the court the full amount of the bail if the defendant fails to appear for their trial. In return, the defendant pays the bail bond company a fee, which is typically 10% of the bail amount.

If the defendant appears for their trial, the bail bond company will refund the fee to the defendant. However, if the defendant fails to appear for their trial, the bail bond company will forfeit the full amount of the bail to the court.
